Who is Doodle, you ask? Doodle is one of the four lambs (sheep) who make up the McLamby family. He lives in the Northern Highlands of Scotland, and this is his blog. That's right; life from a lamb's point of view. Doodle, and his brother Snowball, were orphaned lambs and raised on bottles...first in the garage and backyard of their people ("Dad" and "Mom")...then out in the big field with their "Uncles" Rosebud and Shermy, two big Cheviot sheep who are also...er...pet sheep. Sometimes it's just fine for someone to have no other purpose in life but to live and be one of God's creatures. That's Doodle, Snowball, Rosebud, and Shermy. Welcome to their world!

Happy Birthday Rhonda!

Snowball says, "When are you coming to see me?  Huh?  Huh?"

Doodle says, "Well, I'd let you have me for your birthday present, but there's only one me, and I'm already taken!"

So...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO RHONDA

Merry Christmas from Everyone at Doodle's Place

I, Doodle, and my family:  Uncle Rosebud, Uncle Shermy, and Snowball (the McLambies) want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas!

The weather is a bit rough here ~ all rainy and sleety and cold.  We're busy eating to keep warm and in good condition.  Mom and Dad got us a feed and mineral pail for Christmas!  YUMMY!  Like a great big lollipop!

We hope Santa brings you something good, too!

Don't forget to thank God for bringing us all Baby Jesus!

Love, Doodle and Co.

Evening Playtime

It was nice to explore and wander around in the backyard, on a cool, crisp May evening.

Sometimes we would run and play with Mom.
We liked to stand and jump on the big round thing in the grass...and see how much noise we could make.

We were just beginning to eat leaves off of bushes.  I don't know why we always get yelled at when we do that.  We still get shooed away from bushes.

We would run and jump...and run and jump some more before our bedtime.
It was nice being a baby lamb and living at our Mom and Dad's house!

To Keith

Happy Birthday, Uncle Keith!
We hope we will meet you in person soon.

The Attention Seeker

Baby Snowball always wanted lots of attention when he was little.
Wait...he's still like that.

Pet me!  Scritch me!  That was Snowball.
Now, he still follows at your heels.  Mostly, he's probably looking for a cookie.
I say, he can have the pets and I will take the cookies!

We were really little once.

Snowball likes to snuffle you, too.  He still does that.
I think he's weird...don't you?
We like him, though.

Dashing Baby Doodle ~ the Poser

This is me as a baby, posing like a big lamb.  Don't you think I look dashing?
I heard that!

And here I am, soaking up the sun.
I know how to enjoy myself.

Boing Boing Boing

Zoom Zoom Zoom!!!
Oh, the joy of being a lamby!

Boing Boing Boing!
Snowball loves to jump.
I love to jump, too!
Being a lamb is great fun.  You should try it!

Baby Doodle

Aren't I cute?  I know.  I'm a cute Doodle.  Don't you wish you could scritch me?  I still like to be scritched.  And I'm STILL a cute Doodle!

Wellie Boots

When we were little, we really liked Mom and Dad's wellie boots!

I don't know why.
We are not that interested in them now.
Except...

when we see them, we know Mom and Dad are near!
And it's always a good thing to know someone who loves you is close by.

Look!  Doesn't Snowball have bat ears?  He sure is pointy!

We're a lot bigger now...but seeing those wellie boots is still a good thing!

Lamby People

We like people.  Well...most people.  Okay, well, some people.  We haven't met very many people, actually.  And sometimes, we get a little frightened of people we don't know.
We don't really like it when folks are loud or boisterous around us.

But we love our own personal people!  After all, they are the ones who came to where we first were and picked us out of the pen and brought us home!
We're adopted...and aren't we glad!

Rocket Lamby

How would you like to have that running at you?
Snowball loves to zero in on something (someone) and take off running straight for them.
Just when you think he will run you over, he veers off.
He's tiny here, but he can still run fast!

On the Playground

Here we are in our backyard ~ our very own playground.
How do you like our bush?  By the time Mom and Dad said we were ready to move into the big field, we had eaten almost every leaf on it!  This bush helped us to grow big and strong.

Baby Snowball is Not a Toy

He just looks like one!
And look:  he even has a milk mouth.

I guess Snowball was kinda cute when he was a baby.  And he did like to be squished and cuddled.
Sometimes even now he still acts like a little baby.  I guess every family has "the baby of the family".  Snowball is definitely our baby.

Making Our Legs Work Right

Sometimes, when we were little babies, our legs went in different directions from each other.  It's a big thing, learning how to move all four legs the way you want them.
Then there's the grass.  We both tripped over it a lot.
And sometimes, my back end got ahead of my front end.
Mom and Dad say that when I run, even now, this can still happen.  I don't know what they're talking about!

Doodle Takes a Nap

Sometimes when I was really little, I just had to stop and rest.
Snowball hardly ever just sat down, like I did, to take a nap.
Lots of times, he would climb all over me when I was trying to take a nap.

But...I'm a patient Doodle, even when I was a little baby lamb.
Snowball learned from my example.
He would sometimes finally stop moving and lie down beside me.

We both learned that sometime life looked better after we had a rest.
*****
Boy, could Snowball snore!

Snowball and the Chair

We loved the white plastic lawn chairs that were in our garage.
Mom and Dad would sit on them...and we would try to, too!

Snowball is convinced there is something on this chair.
He's right!  There is a piece of sawdust!
One of our favorites!

He could see it, but his breath (from his pointy nose) kept pushing it out of his reach.

He tried to jump up on the chair, but his new, shiny hooves kept sliding around.  He did eventually master chair-jumping, but not that day.

Snowball concedes.  The chair won.  You can see the sawdust piece still sitting in it.  Sigh...

Romper Stomper Bomper Boo...I See Snowball...and Doodle...

Snowball liked chewing on Dad's wellie boots whenever we had Romper Room time.
See how the boots are almost as tall as little Snowball?

He also liked jumping on Mom.
You can see me, waiting my turn!

I liked tasting all the yummy pieces of sawdust and straw bedding.
Did you know baby lambs go through teething?  They do!

Snowball used to lead me into trouble.  We're both chewing on Dad's wellie boots, now!

But Snowball wants everyone to think he is sweet and cute and innocent...
I guess he is.  We both are!

Playtime in the Garage

We spent a lot of time romping through the garage when we were little.
I guess that's why Mom called it Romper Room.  I don't know!

We had to play inside sometimes because we were so little, and our people didn't want us to go out in the rain and get cold or wet.  So, we explored a lot.  We had to discover what we could eat...and what we weren't supposed to eat.

We always got yelled at when we tried to chew on the charcoal grill.  I don't get that.  I thought a grill had something to do with food?

Sometimes I would get so frustrated, I would just chomp on Snowball's ear.  He used to gnaw on my ears, too.

Whaddya mean, "No wonder"?

Mom would sit in the lawn chair and watch over us.  We both liked to climb all over her, and to chew on her wellie boots.

And then there were times when I had just had enough of all the commotion, and I would plop down where I was and take a nap.  Sawdust made a good bed!

Snowball Has a Pointy Head

Sometimes we like to make fun of Snowball's pointy head.
He used to use his pointy nose to poke his head into places wherever he thought there was food.

Even though Snowball has grown bigger now, he still has a pointy head!
And he still comes up to Mom and pokes her with his nose, thinking he'll get a milk bottle.
I'm too big for milk bottles now...but I'll bet Snowball would take one.
Milk and cookies.  That's his favorite snack!
