Who is Doodle, you ask? Doodle is one of the four lambs (sheep) who make up the McLamby family. He lives in the Northern Highlands of Scotland, and this is his blog. That's right; life from a lamb's point of view. Doodle, and his brother Snowball, were orphaned lambs and raised on bottles...first in the garage and backyard of their people ("Dad" and "Mom")...then out in the big field with their "Uncles" Rosebud and Shermy, two big Cheviot sheep who are also...er...pet sheep. Sometimes it's just fine for someone to have no other purpose in life but to live and be one of God's creatures. That's Doodle, Snowball, Rosebud, and Shermy. Welcome to their world!

Uncle Rosebud Has Things to Say

We little guys are so cute and funny, we steal the show from the Uncles.  But, the truth is, without the Uncles, we wouldn't have been adopted.

Uncle Rosebud says he turned 6 years old this year, and he was the first McLamby!

He also told us he had a very hard first year.  This made us sad.  He wasn't even supposed to be born!  No one was planning for new babies where his mom lived.  It seems some guy got in with the girls for a time, and no one knew it, and the guy, well... he wasn't very self-controlled.  I'm not sure what that means, but Rosebud and some others were born in the cold of a snowy April in 2008.

He was a little guy, and his mom only had one lamb.  But even then, it took her awhile for her to have enough milk for him.  So, he got some bottles!  Yay for milk bottles!  And Mom was the one to give them to him.  Then, one day, when Mom picked up baby Rosebud, he leaned his face on her face... and Mom says it was true love ever after!

So even after the rest of the sheep were sold away from the croft (because the family were no longer crofting)... Uncle Rosebud got saved behind for Mom!

And the truth is, we all love Uncle Rosebud.  'Cause really, he is very good-natured and sweet, and he is usually pretty nice to us little guys (who aren't so little anymore).

The other McLambies all say THANK YOU to Uncle Rosebud for opening the door for the rest of us!
